A stray bullet struck and killed a Spelman College student from Kansas City early Thursday while she was walking with friends in Atlanta.
Jasmine Lynn, 19, of Kansas City, was fatally shot about 12:30 a.m. when shots were fired during a fight on the Clark Atlanta University campus, Atlanta police said.
Lynn graduated from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy. In a 2008 interview with The Star, she said she was bound for Spelman College to study psychology.
An 18-year-old Clark Atlanta student also was wounded when he was hit in the wrist by a stray bullet. He was being treated at a hospital.
One of Lynn’s friends heard gunshots, saw the weapon and told her to get down. Lynn was struck in the chest before could get on the ground, police said.
