Not long after the Gateway Center Orlando, Florida high-rise was struck my multiple gunshots, the police captured the man behind the massacre. His name is Jason Rodriguez and he was a former employee for the Reynolds Smith & Hill. Jason’s office was at the very same building on the 8th floor.
Jason thought that he could open fire and kill innocent lives and get away. The police surely proved his thinking wrong as they caught him near around 2pm. Rodriguez, 40, was arrested at his mother’s apartment at the intersection of Curry Ford Road and State Road 436.
Jason was laid off from Reynolds Smith & Hills a year ago. He worked there as an architect. Manager Renato said that he was laid off because the company was cutting back on its expenses. “I know that he was not very happy with the layoff,” said Gonzalez. Renato said he did get angry when he was laid off but he never showed any sign of violence. Reports show that Jason filed for bankruptcy on September. Jason has no past records of criminal activities.
While he was being taken away, reporters where shouting at him asking him to explain his deeds. Jason said “They left me to rot.” They asked if he was referring to his former employer. Jason said “No. No. I’m angry.”
It’s obvious that Jason was broken and frustrated as he was laid off from his company. It’s obvious for man to get angry when something like this happens, it’s just that people react in different ways; Jason had his own way of reacting.
So whose fault is it really? Blame it on the recession!
