Brady Quinn Cheap Shot (VIDEO)

Quarterback Brady Quinn of the Cleveland Browns is the subject of a lot of talk today after he made a “cheap shot” against Terrell Suggs in the Ravens vs. Browns game last night.  Since Tom Brady’s knee injury last season and the inception of the Brady Rule, refs have been keeping a close eye on tackles that threaten quarterbacks, so it was surprising to see a quarterback get called out for a similar shot against a defensive lineman.

During last night’s game, Quinn threw an interception and then went on to tackle Terrell Suggs, which did stop the play.  However, some are saying that it was a dirty play that could have injured Suggs.  Fast forward to 1:50 seconds to see the play in question:

Ravens teammate Ray Lewis was pissed about Quinn’s tackle and had this to say,

Heck yeah it was a cheap shot. When you’re running down and you’re looking at the quarterback going at somebody’s knees who doesn’t even have the ball. I want to see if he gets the same fine I got or even higher. Now this man is out four or five weeks because of some baloney like that.

Interestingly it was Terrell Suggs that tackled Tom Brady post knee injury in this season’s Pats vs Ravens game – granted the refs were a bit touchy about plays like this with the new rule in effect.  No matter what the rules, fines, penalties, etc are players are still going to go after it in the moment of the play and worry about the consequences later – at least Quinn’s toughened up a bit since his days at Notre Dame but that still didn’t earn them a win.  The Browns lost 16 – 0.
