H1N1 Vaccine Recall

December 16th, 2009 | by admin | 782 views

Just when the vaccine is finally being offered to the general public, there is a recall.

800,000 doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine are being recalled because they may not be potent enough to protect against the virus.

The doses are pre-filled syringes intended for young children, ages 6 months up to three years. Despite the recall, officials with the Centers for Disease Control say they don’t think children need to be re-vaccinated, because they are required to get two shots.

The doses did pass inspection, but apparently lost potency after they were shipped.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, Iowa was allocated approximately 28,600 doses of the affected vaccine in approximately 45 counties.

At least a hundred persons in our city have been infected with the H1N1 virus. I was very scared to get infected with this disease during the pandemic.;,
