And now Microsoft has announced a new Age of Empires game is in the works on the eve of GamesCom 2010 in Cologne, Germany.
I am very excited with this news. There are currently no games that could replace the Age of Empires 2 in my hearts and now there is an online version of it.
Revealed today by Microsoft, the game takes Age of Empires’ real-time gameplay and adds some social, online twists like persistent gameplay, new multiplayer features, levelling up and even quests. The game also has a new, cartoony art style.
Basically, it looks like Age of Empires started hanging out with Farmville, and the two got real close.
Developed by Robot Entertainment, which is comprised of former Age of Empires developers, it’s a free-to-play online game that runs through Games for Windows Live. You can sign up for the beta here.
