Emma Watson is joining the Ivy League
The adorable 19-year-old who won our hearts in the role of Hermoine Grainger in the superhit Harry Potter films will be attending the prestigious Brown University in Providence, R.I., this fall.
Emma confirmed the news in an interview with Paste Magazine Monday, saying, “I am [going to university in the Fall] – to Brown, which is an Ivy League establishment in the U.S.A. I’ve got a place there to read literature.”
Until now, Emma had decided to remain mum about where she was going to college. Prior to today’s revelation, the star had been linked to Yale, Cambridge, and most recently, New York City’s Columbia University.

About a month or so ago, it was reported that Emma Watson was going to bid adieu to her acting career to focus on her studies. There would be nothing new about that; I can think of several actresses who put their educations over film roles, although I wonder why it seems to be more actresses than actors. Regardless, considering how much Watson has talked about school in the past, it wasn’t surprising.
But now the 19-year-old is quashing those rumors. The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince star will be attending Columbia beginning this fall, but she tells Contact Music she has no plans to walk away from acting.
